Digital Learning Project Coordinator at Focal Point Gallery Focal Point Gallery is looking for a highly motivated individual to support The Learning and Engagement Curator in delivering Focal Point Gallery’s digital learning programme to children and families in areas of socio-economic challenges. National charity Children and the Arts and Royal Opera House Bridge have co-invested in ‘Start’, enabling Focal Point Gallery to run a digital learning programme in the borough of Southend-on-Sea and build new relationships with primary schools.
From September 2017 to July 2020, Focal Point Gallery will host a series of artist-led workshops for children ages 8 to 11 years. Three schools will make up to six visits each per year, referencing FPG’s exhibition and offsite programme. Considering
the philosophies and working methods of the artists as the starting point for inspiration, aspiration and discussion, practical sessions will combine hands-on, digital activities and public screenings. An annual event held at Focal Point Gallery, showing the children’s work on Big Screen Southend will celebrate the achievements and bring together families, schools, staff and pupils.
The Digital Learning Project Co-ordinator at Focal Gallery will be responsible for the development and scheduling of ‘Start’. The co-ordinator will be working with all staff, but predominantly Learning and Engagement Curator. The Digital Learning Project Co-ordinator will be based at the gallery for one day per week, 30 days per year, to coincide with the school timetable. Fee will be £90 per day. Focal Point Gallery is committed to making the role enjoyable and rewarding. We aim to provide the opportunity for the Digital Learning Project Co-ordinator to develop skills working in a gallery environment and with local schools.
